The goal

A wedding is the one party where everyone you love is in the same room. For Gabriela and Rodrigo, that room looked like a map of their lives.

Both of them are from Mexico. Both have lived in different places along the way, and both made Amsterdam home, a city where your closest friends can come from anywhere. So when the invitations went out, they reached 120 guests from 20 nationalities.

Their dream was to give every one of them a real Mexican wedding experience. The kind where the music never stops and nobody stays in their chair for long. But showing their culture was only half of it. They wanted each guest, wherever they came from, to feel that this party was theirs too.

What we did

We were there for the music. At a wedding, that means being there for almost everything.

For six hours, every part of the day asked for a different sound. Something gentle for the ceremony, when all eyes were on the two of them. Something warm for the dinner, soft enough for the conversations to flow. A clear microphone and the right silence for the speeches. And then, the party.

For the party, we built a set with two hearts. One was Mexican: the songs Gabriela and Rodrigo grew up with, the ones a Mexican wedding can’t happen without. The other belonged to the room: music from their guests’ countries, and the songs the whole world sings together. Then we wove them into each other, so a guest could hear their own favourite and, a few minutes later, find themselves dancing to a Mexican classic for the first time.

How it went

On 10 May 2024, De Veranda in Amsterdam got loud in the best possible way.

What stays with us is the sound of that room. The laughter. The conversations shouted over the music. The way people turned to each other every time a new song came in, as if to say “this one is mine”. A cheer from one corner for a song from home, and a minute later the whole floor moving to it.

At the end of the night, the bride and groom came to find us. It had been even better than they imagined, they said. And then, simply: thank you.

Twenty nationalities sat down for dinner. One family got up to dance.

What we did

  • DJ: six hours of music, for the ceremony, the dinner and the party
  • Microphones: wireless microphones for the speeches
  • Playlist: personalised, mixing Mexican music with songs from the guests’ countries
  • Sound: professional DJ equipment and sound system
